The Mars Pathfinder
The Mars Pathfinder was the second of NASA's low-cost planetary Discovery missions. It landed in 1997 and sent back fascinating images that confirmed that Mars once had a great deal of water on its surface. The roving robot, Sojourner, wheeled around the surface and found rocks with compositions very similar to Earth rocks.
