Paul Prindle Internship

At Jones and Bartlett we had the pleasure of Paul Prindle's presence as our mentor and leader. We are offering an internship in his name to honor all that he was and all that he brought to us: Paul's love of the written word, its use in teaching and learning, and his excitement at the opening of minds through educational publishing. If you carry some of these same attributes with you, if a life in publishing is your avocation as well as potential occupation, and if you possess skills in communication, organization, or technology, we want to hear from you.

About Jones and Bartlett Publishers

Employees of Jones and Bartlett are committed to producing outstanding educational books and multi-media materials. We take great pride in serving the information needs of the world's educational and scientific communities. Currently in our 19th year of business, we continually strive to be the leading publisher in the markets we serve. As we continue our rapid growth, we look for energetic, hardworking individuals with innovative ideas who will help us reach our goals of becoming the number one college publisher in the country. The Paul Prindle Internship is one way we seek to introduce students to the publishing process and thus foster the growth of an eventual contributor to the publishing field.

About Paul Prindle

Paul Prindle was, among many other things, the ultimate educational publisher. He got into the business by one of the traditional entry careers, as a salesman, but he got non-traditional pretty fast. Four years after he sold his first book, he and two associates started their own company, Prindle, Weber and Schmidt, which became so successful that within six years it enjoyed the fate of many successful small companies, and was acquired by another, larger company. Wadsworth Publishing, the acquiring company, was in turn acquired by International Thomson Ltd.. By 1978, sixteen years into his career, Paul was managing four International Thompson companies. Eleven years later, he returned to the small private company fold, becoming President and then Vice-Chairman of Jones and Bartlett Publishers.
Paul's enthusiasm and love for this business and the people in it is appropriately embodied in this internship at the kind of company where he started his career. It's a legacy of his that we'll all enjoy, intern and publishing colleagues as well.
