Pollination: Not Just a Simple Flower/Insect Relationship.
The transfer of pollen from male to female plant parts is an essential step in the biology of plants. Pollination is often cited as an example of co-evolution between plants and animals. Are all flowering plants pollinated by bees? Indeed, not, although bees are certainly important. What adaptations do the stapeliad flowers have for pollination, what insects have they evolved to attract, and what brings the insect to the flower?
The Plant Cell.
Plants have cells which are constructed for gathering light, storing carbohydrates as starch, and saving water – in addition to other cellular functions.
Do plant cells have organelles? Are there mitochondria, chloroplasts, nuclei, or endoplasmic reticulum? How are plant cells organized to facilitate biochemical reactions that plants use?
