Essentials of Human Disease is a consolidated and modified version of the very successful Introduction to Human Disease, now in its Eighth Edition. This book is designed for students who have limited time to master basic disease concepts. It covers the essential structural and functional characteristics of common and important diseases, as well as the principles of diagnosis and treatment.

The book is organized into two main sections. The first section deals with general concepts and with diseases affecting the body as a whole. The second section considers the various organ systems and their diseases. Each chapter begins with learning objectives, followed by a brief review of the anatomy and physiology of the organ system discussed, then a systematic survey of the pathology, pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, and principles of treatment of the diseases covered.
