The Second Edition of this 20-hour course can be offered for continuing education units, created specifically to support the implementation of the UNICEF Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative in the United States. The updated edition covers the overriding framework for the initiative, The Prenatal Period, The Basics of Lactation Management, Breastfeeding Under Special Circumstances and Community Support for Breastfeeding along with an update of breastfeeding policies and research.
The updated Second Edition includes:
- Updated scientific evidence for the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding
- Increased linkage to articles, professional organization policy statements, and other resources for professionals
- Expanded coverage of topics newly required by UNICEF and the World Health Organization, specifically appropriate complementary feeding of infants, and issues surrounding HIV and breastfeeding
This course provides 23.4 LCERPS for lactation consultants, 23.4 credit hours for nurses, and 10 CMEs for physicians!
