"Yoga for the Joy of It! is a beautifully written book that takes what can potentially be an intimidating practice to beginners and makes it simple, accessible, and enjoyable. By covering all the basics such as what to wear, the equipment used, what time to arrive to a class, and creating a “Yoga Alphabet” (in addition to explaining the poses in detail), beginning yogis can go into their first class feeling relaxed and prepared. The authors' love of yoga is obvious because of the inspirational and joyous quotes and photographs included throughout the text. Having practiced for years, I loved reading this book because it reminded me of why I find so much joy in yoga!"

"This book is a refreshingly clear and thorough manual for the new student of yoga. As a director for 15 years of a Teacher Training Program of national and international reach, I also welcome it as a resource for those learning to teach the art and science of yoga. Much attention is given to practicality and precision, emphasizing these two very important ingredients on the beginner's path of yoga."

I love my yoga book. It provides scientific facts about yoga. It is very practical with tips and pictures to help the student with learning the poses. The book also focuses on breathing techniques and body alignment. I love the chapter on meditation. At the end of each chapter there are study questions to help students reflect on important points and Yoga moments to enhance the student’s practice.
This book has become my personal yoga bible. Together with the yoga classes I attend my perspective on exercise and fitness has changed; and it has changed my body. I have achieved better balance, flexibility and strength. I am calmer and more mindful.

I look forward to coming to yoga class each week. This class has helped my lower back and has increased my energy level. I also sleep better. After reading Chapter One in the book,” Yoga for the Joy of It”, I was very happy to discover that when I turn my body upside down, my organs, bones and muscles are rejuvenated. Also my happy hormones, endorphins kick in. That has helped a lot with my depression. Using this book has provided me with this valuable information and has enriched my yoga experience.

“Yoga for the Joy of It! provides an inspiring and effective description of Yoga for practitioners of all levels. As a Yoga teacher, the text is very useful as a reference as well as for my continuing education. Cheers to Barbara Rose Sherman and Minda Kraines for creating a text book that not only demonstrates the author’s knowledge of the subject, but shows their immense love for Yoga itself."
