"I wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for the Nancy Caroline textbook. I brought the book home with the intent of glancing through it before I collapsed into bed.  As I began to "glance" through the book, I realized I had completed the preface and the first two chapters before I ever looked away. It is absolutely riveting! I couldn't put the book down! It should be considered literature instead of a textbook. It almost reads like a novel. I have never encountered a textbook of this quality. The content is excellent! Jones and Bartlett has, in this text, the definitive gold standard by which all paramedic texts should be measured. It contains a beautiful balance of information, wit, humor, insight and common sense. My vocabulary doesn't contain enough superlatives for this text. I can assure you, I will not teach another paramedic course without Nancy Caroline’s Emergency Care in the Streets, Sixth Edition.

I feel as though I have discovered the holy grail of paramedic instruction. Once again, thank you so much!"

"Nancy Caroline’s Emergency Care in the Streets, Sixth Edition has something for everyone—paramedics, doctors, emergency nurses, first responders and first aiders alike. Few texts can claim global acclaim and reputation within a practice discipline. The Sixth Edition is one such publication."

Ramon Shaban
Journal of Emergency Primary Health Care
2007; Volume 5: Issue 2

“The Nancy Caroline text has beautiful graphics and excellent technology. Its coverage of cultural diversity and standard assessment tools is comprehensive and complete. The language of the text is as user friendly as possible given the complexity of the material. The instructor resources will make it easy for the instructors to use the materials as is and/or add them as they are in a format that lends itself to editing into presentations for our intended audience. Also, I highly recommend the Paramedic Field Guide as an excellent study tool while on rotation. I urge instructors to use this program in future paramedic training courses!”

"This is absolutely the best medic text I have ever seen! It will fill a void that has existed for quite a while and help us create better paramedics. I can’t wait to use this text...phenomenal job!"

G. Lee Turpen II, CCEMT-P
Primary Instructor
State of Indiana Office of EMS

"I finally had the opportunity to read Nancy Caroline's biography.  I did not realize that Dr. Caroline had done so much in her life.  One would think that Medicine and the World Health Organization would revere her contributions not only in the United States, but also around the world.

Having using Nancy Caroline's previous editions myself, I have always enjoyed the readability of her books.  This book is no exception.  The graphics are amazing - better than any other text currently on the market for Paramedic training.  The text gets the point across, goes in depth, does not “dummy down” information, all while maintaining its easy readability.  I like the glossary at the end, the summation objectives, and the end of chapter quiz.  This book has it all!"

Lee Gillum, MPH, LP, EMS-CC
PIII/Clinical Educator
MCHD-EMS

"All I can say is WOW!  This is one of the more comprehensive, yet user-friendly texts I've ever seen.  I thoroughly enjoy the 'Notes From Nancy' and 'Special Considerations boxes incorporated into each chapter.  The read is easy but not simple-that is, it does not 'dumb down' the pathophysiology material that all students and experienced medics need to know in an ever-changing profession.  Nancy has great photos and illustrations to used at the right places to reinforce each section. Please know that I will be letting everyone know what a find this text is!"

Tim Duncan, RN CCRN CFRN EMTP/Flight Nurse
St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center Life Flight
Toledo, OH

"I am a 'Nancy Caroline' Medic from the 1980's and I am so happy this text will be available for my May medic class!  She speaks to the student...understanding they are learning advanced assessments and skills to truly make a difference.  She pulls key information together, and relates treatments in a way the student can recognize and remember. Thank you for bringing back this text!

"After reviewing several chapters of this paramedic textbook, I am convinced that the writer’s style and the way material is presented is a fresh approach in the education of paramedic students. There is no doubt that students will find the reading easier and key points reinforced for easy recall. I found the material being presented wasn’t so technical that confusion set in and the book is an easy read with the antics of the author."

John A. Kubincanek, EMT-P, AA, EMSI
Cuyahoga Community College

"The tone was very conversational, very appropriate and very much in the vein of the original Caroline texts (I trained under her manuals in 1980)."

Daniel Carlascio, NREMTP, CCEMTP
Loyola University Medical Center
Maywood, Illinois

"I love how you give different examples which help the students make connections between concepts and patients."

Vicki May, MEd, LP
Houston Community College
Houston, Texas

"I found the content to be exactly what a new paramedic needs and a great review for the seasoned paramedic."

Lisa Starr, NREMT-P, EMS-I
Southeast Community College
Lincoln, Nebraska

"The author presents the material in a detailed yet concise fashion. The material is presented in a good order and makes sense to the reader. The author builds a foundation and then expands on that throughout the chapter in a logical progression from basic principles to advanced concepts."

Peter D. Eikenberry NREMT-P
University of Maryland
Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute, ALS Division

"After reading this chapter and comparing it to our current text I am going to recommend that we evaluate this text in our program. I feel that it is an easy read, has comprehensive content and challenges the student to understand the material presented."

Ken Bullwinkle, RN, BSN, PHRN, CEN, CCRN
Nursing Education Department
Crozer-Chester Medical Center
Upland, Pennsylvania

"The reading level is right on the mark. It reads like a good novel with educational value rather than like a repair manual for the body…. It flows and the information is easily retained in this format. Many companies just cram as many facts and data as possible into a book, add the DOT objectives and call it a paramedic text. It is obvious the author took the time to write this text rather than just assemble the objectives on paper. Great job!"

Matthew McQuisten
Avera McKennan Hospital and University
Sioux Falls, South Dakota

"Nancy Caroline's Emergency Care in the Streets was an amazing tool to have in my journey towards becoming a paramedic. The material was presented in a way that made the concepts not only easy to understand, but very memorable as well. I loved the language and sense of humor that could be found throughout the text. This is no ordinary textbook, it is more like reading a novel. It was very easy to keep my interest, and the depth of knowledge that this book offers make it a wonderful resource to have around in the years to come. Every time I open this book I am always learning something new. Thank you for such a wonderful book."
