Lillie Shockney is an oncology nurse, two time breast cancer survivor, Administrative Director of the Johns Hopkins Avon Foundation Breast Center, and Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at Johns Hopkins University's School of Medicine. Her nursing career has heavily focused on the care of cancer patients. She also has a background in performance improvement and quality of care measurement. Her educational background includes earning an RN diploma degree, BS in Health Care Administration and a Masters degree in Administrative Science from Johns Hopkins University. She is a published author and national speaker on breast cancer. She is the recipient of many national awards including the Impact Award from the National Consortium of the Breast Centers, the Excellence in Breast Cancer Education Award from the Oncology Nursing Society, the Internet Health Hero award from Intel, the Lane Adams Award from the American Cancer Society, and the Komen Foundation’s Professor of Survivorship Award, along with many others. She is known for inspiring patients, health care professionals with her words of wisdom and wit and believes it is her mission to make the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer the least physically and emotionally traumatic she can, until there is a cure. Having experienced breast cancer personally and taken care of thousands of women with the disease, she is recognized as an expert. She also serves as the Ask and Expert on Breast Cancer for Johns Hopkins, Yahoo.com, and several other organizations.
 


Gary R. Shapiro, MD - John's Hopkins Bayview Medical Center
Dr. Shapiro is Chairman of the Department of Oncology at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and Medical Director of the John Hopkins Program in Geriatric Oncology. He also serves as faculty member of the Breast Cancer Program for the Johns Hopkins Avon Foundation Breast Center. Dr. Shapiro received his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University and his medical degree from George Washington State University. He completed his residency in internal medicine and a hematology fellowship at Northwestern University in Chicago. He completed a medical oncology fellowship with B.J. Kennedy at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Shapiro completed additional postgraduate work in medical ethics at the University of Chicago and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His clinical interests focus on ethical issues as well as geriatric oncology care.
