Ghassan Abou-Alfa, MD - Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center
Ghassan K. Abou-Alfa, MD, is a member of the Gastrointestinal Oncology Service at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, where he specializes in the treatment of primary liver cancer. He received his medical degree from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon, and completed his post-doctoral training at Yale University School of Medicine, before joining the faculty of Memorial Sloan-Kettering. His research is dedicated to improving the effectiveness of cancer therapy by incorporating small biological molecules that target cancer therapy into the treatment regimen for chemotherapy-resistant liver cancer. Dr. Abou-Alfa is a strong advocate for raising awareness about liver cancer and has lectured on the subject at universities worldwide.
Ronald DeMatteo, MD - Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center
Ronald DeMatteo, MD, is a member of the Hepatobiliary Service in the Department of Surgery at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. He specializes in the treatment of liver, bile duct, and pancreas tumors. Dr. DeMatteo received his medical degree from Cornell Medical College and completed a surgical residency at the University of Pennsylvania. He was a fellow in Surgical Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center before joining the staff. Dr. DeMatteo also performs laboratory research where he investigates how the immune system can be used to fight cancer.
