Catherine E. Burns, PhD, RN, CPNP - Oregon Health & Science University

Dr. Burns has been an educator of nurse practitioners in pediatric primary care for 30 years,  lead author for Pediatric Primary Care (2009)  which is in its 4th edition and has won several awards over the years;  past president National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP)  and the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board. Dr. Burns received the Henry K. Silver Award from NAPNAP in 2001. She is active with the Association of Faculties of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and the NAPNAP Foundation.  She has consulted with pediatric nurse practitioner programs and has been honored nationally for her work as a PNP educator.


Virginia E. Richardson, DNS, RN, CPNP - School of Nursing, Indiana University
Dr. Richardson is an Associate Professor at Indiana University School of Nursing and Coordinator of the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program.  She has served on the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board as well as several positions within NAPNAP.  Dr. Richardson received the prestigious Henry K. Silver Award from NAPNAP in 2004.  She was designated a Fellow of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (2007), PNP of the Year of the Indiana Chapter of NAPNAP (2005), and editor of Practice Guidelines for Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (2006, Elsevier). 


Margaret Brady, PhD, RN, CPNP - California State University at Long Beach

Dr. Brady has been a nurse educator at California State University and is currently the co-director of the PNP program at Azusa Pacific University.  She is a co-editor of Pediatric Primary Care (2009) and has worked with Dr. Burns on all four editions of this textbook.  She has also published journal articles on such topics as obesity in children and maternal depression.  She is a past president of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) and the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board.  She remains active in NAPNAP and continues to serve as one of the co-leaders for its obesity prevention initiative.
