As a college professor of Health Education, I rate this textbook on Stress Management as OUTSTANDING! I have used Dr. Seaward's text for over a decade now for my Stress Management classes, and it just keeps getting better and better!
My students repeatedly have commented on how well it is written, how it presents the topics in an interesting and helpful manner, and how the illustrations and informational inserts in each chapter are superb. They like his approach in that after reading all the chapters on the variety of coping techniques, they can make informed choices about how to best manage their personal stress.
From the teacher's point of view, the holistic approach to stress management, the well documented causes and effects, and the myriad of management techniques that are thoroughly researched and presented, combine to make this text a wonderful tool and guide to use in my classes. It is truly a well researched, comprehensive and factual text that is a refreshing change from reading a lot of other "self-help" books that are written to promote one author's message on one particular subject.

What do your students like most about Managing Stress?
The readability and applicability to their lives are the main things. I have never had a student complain about this text or anything in it. I have a new young colleague now that also teaches some stress management and he told me he has loved the Seaward text since he used it as a student of mine a few years ago and there was no question what text he was going to use.

The language that is used is very appealing. It’s not all theoretical and conceptual; students can actually relate and use the book. I’ve had countless students tell me that they aren’t selling this book back at the end of the semester. They also love the relaxation CDs that come with the text.

What do your students like least about Managing Stress?
Nothing. They like everything, especially its simplicity; note taking guides and the opportunity to take practice quizzes before any test or exam. In addition, they also think the book offers several practical stress coping techniques they could use themselves.
