Kristen L. Mauk, PhD, RN, CRRN-A, APRN, BC - Valparaiso University

Dr. Mauk is a certified Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in rehabilitation and gerontology; she is also a Hartford Geriatric Scholar. Her dissertation research resulted in the development of a grounded theory for post-stroke recovery. Dr. Mauk has written four books and has contributed to numerous others. Her first book, Gerontological Rehabilitation Nursing, received an AJN Book of the Year Award in 1999. The Association of Rehabilitation Nurses recently honored Dr. Mauk with the 2005 Distinguished Service Award for her contributions to ARN and the field of rehabilitation nursing. Dr. Mauk currently teaches rehabilitation and gerontology at Valparaiso University College of Nursing in Valparaiso, Indiana. She speaks frequently at conferences and is a healthcare consultant for Mauk Financial Solutions.
