Marjorie O. Thomas, MPA, ARM, RPLU, FASHRM - Senior Vice President, Risk Management & Underwriting, AFP

Marjorie O. (West) Thomas is Senior Vice President for Risk Management and Underwriting for Administrators for the Professions, Inc. (AFP). Since joining AFP in 1985, Marjorie has translated her passion for developing methods for improved patient safety into innovative programming that has energized the field of health care risk management, with an emphasis on the ambulatory care practice. Prior to AFP, Marjorie spent several years in hospital administration and establishing the risk management department at New York’s Bellevue Hospital.

Marjorie holds a BS degree and a Masters degree in Public Administration (Health Care); she has also earned the ARM and RPLU designations. Marjorie’s work in this field has also earned her the designation of fellow of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management. After receiving training in their program to prepare facilitators in communication skills, Marjorie is a member of the faculty of the Institute for Healthcare Communication. 

 


Christine J. Quinn, RN, BSN, MPA, ARM, FASHRM, RPLU - Vice President of Risk Management Services, AFP

Christine J. Quinn is Vice President of Risk Management Services for Administrators for the Professions, Inc. (AFP). Christine began her career as a critical care nurse at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center and joined AFP in 1987.  At AFP, she is one of the leaders of the team that has pioneered the development of a successful, multi-faceted risk management program for physicians. Drawing on her strong clinical background, Christine has a particular desire to help physicians better understand how the application of risk management principles in their practice of medicine can lead to better care. She has lectured extensively on risk management in health care.

Christine is a Registered Nurse with a BSN degree and has earned a Masters degree in Public Administration.  She has also earned the ARM and RPLU insurance designations and is a fellow in the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management.  Christine is a member of the faculty of the Institute for Healthcare Communication. 

 


Geraldine M. Donohue, MSN, RN, ARM - Associate Director, Risk Management Education, AFP

Geraldine M. Donohue is Associate Director of Risk Management Education for Administrators for the Profession, Inc. (AFP). Gerri joined AFP in 1995, after a long career in behavioral health. Within a multi-disciplinary team, she develops education programs and provides guidance to thousands of physicians in both large and small group settings to help physicians avoid malpractice litigation. As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, with a Master of Science degree in Nursing, Gerri maintained a private psychotherapy practice, treating individuals and families, for eighteen years.  Prior to coming to AFP, she held a joint appointment with New York Hospital’s Payne Whitney Clinic and The Westchester Psychiatric Division as their Education Coordinator.

She has earned the A.R.M. designation and is a member of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management and a faculty member of the Institute for Healthcare Communication.  One of her greatest passions has been facilitating over 150 small group communication workshops for physicians on strengthening the physician/patient relationship.
