Ivan J. Barrick, PhD, FACHE

An assistant professor, adjunct faculty member, instructor and employee at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Pennsylvania State University, National Defense University, University of Scranton, University of Chicago and University of Southern Indiana. Dr. Barrick taught health services administration, information management, and operations research graduate and undergraduate courses.

As president and director of consulting practices, he was responsible for process reengineering, operations research, productivity management, staffing and process improvement engagements. He led merger feasibility studies, acquisition due diligence assessments, quality management audits, benchmarking, organization development, information systems evaluations, selection and implementation projects and strategic planning engagements, HIPAA Administration Simplification compliance assessments and remediation projects.

Dr. Barrick was employed by and consulted with academic medical enters, community hospitals, integrated healthcare systems, post-acute rehabilitation systems, medical groups, health management organizations, psychiatric hospitals, Veterans Administration, and military facilities.

He served on boards of directors of regional health care and human service organizations and was vice president of a Regional WEDI-SNIP affiliate, e-Pennsylvania Alliance.
Throughout a 35-year career in health care, Dr. Barrick held a number of positions. These positions included president of an independent healthcare operations improvement consultancy, chief information officer, director of corporate, line and staff functions in large academic medical centers, hospitals, and health systems.

He has extensive administrative, management consulting, clinical, and technical experience from unique healthcare delivery perspectives. Dr. Barrick retired as a Commander, Medical Service Corps, United States Navy Reserve after serving as Chief Information Officer (C IO) for Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery and a Combat Zone Fleet Hospital.

Dr. Barrick earned a Doctorate in Healthcare Administration, a Masters degree in Public Administration, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology. He published extensively in professional journals, co - authored several books, and contributed several healthcare textbook chapters. He is credentialed as a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, a Certified Healthcare Information Management Professional and an associate American Society of Clinical Pathology, Association of Military Surgeons of the United States and Military Officers Association of America.
