The choice of topics and their treatment throughout the book are intended to emphasize a modern point of view.

Vectors are used from the start of the text and a summary of vector analysis is included in Chapter One.  No prior knowledge of differential equations is required however differential equations and new mathematical methods are developed throughout the text as needed.

Each chapter contains a set of homework problems for continued study.
